Accessibility & inclusion best practices
- Provide questions in writing
(Zoom chat or email) to support neurodivergent or multilingual students. - Allow extra response time
Accept written follow-ups if needed. - Make note-taking known.
Tell students that you will be taking notes to normalize the practice. - Use structured scoring.
A shared evaluation form helps interviewers stay aligned and ensures consistency across candidates. - Address AI use with curiosity.
If an answer seems unusually polished, ask for a real example or the student’s process: “How did you arrive at that answer?” This is non-accusatory and helps assess authenticity.
Note-taking best practices
- Use an evaluation template and record objective facts and direct quotes.
- Keep notes for hiring documentation and store them per department guidelines.
- If multiple interviewers are present, designate one note-taker or use a shared form to ensure all observations are captured.
